There are four types of breeding found in the English bulldogs that are Inbreeding, line-breeding, out breeding and out crossing.
In-breeding is the mating with very close relatives, for example, daughter with father, sister with brother, son to mother etc.
In-breeding has many strong points and also have some faults; good judgment is required while choosing dogs. The faults in this type of breeding are to destroy all litters and in many cases anomalies occur. This type of breeding is not reminded to beginner breeders. Sometimes in-breeding is only option that is available, this activity is best for the newly created breeds.
Line breeding is the mating of dogs having common ancestors or mating with slightly unconcerned relative, for example granddaughter to grandfather, uncle to niece etc. the strong point of line-breeding is the production of more steady litters.
In order to have strength the required characteristics and also reduce health problem, one has to know about both pedigrees of both sires and also have complete knowledge of a least five generations. Many breeders prefer line-breeding and promote line-breeding type. In this breed health problems are very less, less risk and high quality as compared to in-breeding. This breeding type is best negotiation between inbreeding and outcrossing or outbreeding.
Outcrossing is the mating between two separate breeds of dogs. When two dogs involved in outcross, there is possibility of huge differences and the first generation don’t have consistency and mostly first generation is doubtful. The long term plan can bring many common traits but mostly it has great difference. These traits are needed to intentify by proper line breeding or inbreeding. The common traits will occur by giving proper attention and also know about both breeds at least know about three generation of both.
Outbreding is the mating of two dogs that from separate breed line and it is completely opposite to the line breeding. Out-breeding exist rarely, the dogs that qualifies for out-breeding don’t exist. The breeding has many strong points and indeed no negative point.
Most successful breeder use line breeding and in breeding and use outcrossing only when the both lines show strong characteristics, one line don’t have that characteristics. Out breeding is very difficult and exist rarely.
